Things to Know about CTET Exam | Prepare for CTET 2019

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi organizes the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) twice in a year. Usually, the exam is held in the months of July and December. More than a million aspirants appear for the exam every year.

A national-level entrance exam, CTET, is held to select the Pre-Primary and Upper-Primary teachers. This year the exam was held on July 7, 2019, and the next term of exam is due on December 8, 2019.

CTET December 2019 - How to apply

Eligible applicants can apply online on the official website (ctet.nic.in). Initially, September 18, 2019, was the last date but now the application deadline has been extended to September 25, 2019.


Eligibility Criteria

I. Paper-I (Classes I to V)

Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary and have one of the following diplomas/degrees-

  • Diploma in Elementary Education OR appearing in the final year
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education OR final year students of B.El.Ed. 
  • Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR appearing in the final year
  • Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) OR appearing in the final year
    OR

Secured at least 45% marks in Senior Secondary and have passed or appearing for the final year of 2-year diploma in Elementary Education as per the NCTE Regulations, 2002


II. Paper-II (Classes VI to VIII)

  • Must be a graduate 
  • Diploma in Elementary Education or appearing in the final year
    OR 
  • Graduate with at least 50% marks 
  • Must have passed or currently appearing in 1 year B.Ed.
    OR 
  • Graduate with at least 45% marks 
  • Must have passed or appearing in the 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in accordance with the NCTE regulations
    OR
  • Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary 
  • Must have passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years B.El.Ed
    OR 
  • Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary 
  • Must have passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years BA/BSc. Ed or BA. Ed/B.Sc. Ed
    OR
  • Graduate with at least 45% marks 
  • Must have passed or currently appearing for 1 year B.Ed (Special Education)


Eligible candidates can apply for either one or both papers. To make it convenient for the candidates appearing for both papers, the papers are held in two different shifts.

Paper-IIEvening Session2.30 pm - 5.30 pm

The applicants can download the admit card from the official website from November 10, 2019 (tentatively). They are allowed to take the exam in any of the 110 cities across the country.
